Fed up of wearing your jogging pants? Perhaps even your pajamas have become your go-to outfit during this time of Covid. Getting dressed up can be incredibly important in making us feel better about ourselves. So, let's look on the bright side and, yes, towards those warmer sunnier days and take a peek at which fashion trends Spring 2021 has to offer. More specifically, we'll check out the fashions seen during Paris Fashion Week as they were full of colour, sparkle and impracticality. In other words, a touch of escapism - just what the doctor ordered.

Go Glam

So Spring 2021 demands glamour. This can be interpreted as bold sparkly sequins and shiny fabrics. Metallics are a hot trend with gold and silver topping the bill. Forget your dull stay-at-home wear and dream of dazzling in glossy party pieces such as dresses and skirts.

Back to the 80s

1980s fashion conjures up images of big shoulders, bold colours and permed hair! This Spring's 1980s reboot will see 80s inspired clothes with sequins, fading and a touch of decadent glamour. The 1980s boxy shoulders and cinched waist silhouette goes without saying. So step up to the dance floor and bust some moves to Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet in true 1980s style

Body Chain

OK so we said something about impracticality in the introduction, and so here we have it. Metallic body chain dresses worn over slinky catsuits and body chain tops worn over sweatshirts and tees. It's the sheer impracticality which lends such striking style. After months of trying to do what's right, it's just time to kick back and do what you want not what you should.

A Little Lace

Lend a little lace to your life and ramp up the romance rates! Lace is another hot trend we'll be seeing a lot of in Spring 2021. If lace is not your thing, a nod this trend in a collar or cuff will keep you in the loop. Or, if you're loopy for lace, a total lace look will be a striking statement for the season ahead.

Gender Fluid

A gender fluid fashion trend is what we'll be seeing a lot more of in the years to come and this spring is no exception. French designers gave us baggy pants and oversized silhouettes with defined waists thus blurring the lines between women and men's wear. Definitely something to look out for in the months ahead. You won't be disappointed.

Cut Outs

Cut outs are a trend that could be seen on the runways of the majority of Spring 2021 collections. Showing off a smidgen of skin through chic, albeit sexy, cut outs lends a youthful accent to your look. But don't be under the impression that this trend is confined to evening wear. Depending on the cut outs, this style can easily be worn in the daytime too. Just use your judgement to decide on the right time and place!

Loungewear

Optimism is a fine thing but reality cannot be ignored. Most of us have been spending a lot more time indoors. And, as we've said before, perhaps not wearing the latest fashion trends! ‘What's the point?' ‘Who's going to see me anyway?' But you're going to see you. And how we see ourselves can have a profound effect on how we feel about ourselves. And that's where Paris Fashion Week comes in. French designers showcased a new line in loungewear. No - joggers and pajamas were not on the agenda! Chic pieces such as slip dresses in satin or semi sheer fabrics such as organza for a luxe dimension were the designers' offerings for stay-at-home wear. Of course these clothes can be worn outdoors too! In fact mainly out of the house but there's no harm in having a dress up day every now and again!
