It's Spring again and those burgeoning hues of blossom, blue skies and daffodils all inspire our need to add more colour to our lives. Of course, most of us start with our wardrobe: a colourful scarf or a pair of pastel pants. However, if you really want to feel that Spring is in the air, why not give your home a Spring makeover?

It's Curtains!

So let's start with the curtains. Heavy curtains are ideal for keeping you warm and cosy during the winter months but Spring demands a light and airy feel. One of the best ways of letting your room know it's Spring again is by swapping your dark drapes for lightweight fabrics. Choose light bright shades, perhaps even with a shimmer, that will let the sun in rather than keeping it out.

Flower Power

Dig out the vases. Spring is the ideal time to fill your home with cut fresh flowers. Not only will they add a country garden air to your home but they will fill your home with the scent of Spring too. Think lavender and roses and of course the Spring classics: tulips and daffodils.

Go Green

Many of us have a tendency to put our plants outside once the weather starts to warm up. However, house plants will really add to a sense of nature and a spring-like atmosphere to your home. What's more, greenery in your home will improve mood, reduce stress and pollution too, so it's win win win!

Pull the Rug

Remove heavy rugs and replace them with lighter brighter fabrics. This will lend a cheery fresh vibe to your space. Of course, if you have wooden floors, you can leave them bare as they intrinsically capture the elements of nature anyway which is ideal for this time of year.

Fancy Free & Floral

You don't have to rely solely on fresh flowers to welcome the Spring indoors.  Floral fabrics and bright colours are another way of adding a Spring glow to your home. Choose floral cushions and brightly coloured covers for your sofas and armchairs for a playful feel. Match with throws in Spring shades.  Of course, you don't have to restrict yourself to the living area, duvet covers and sheets are obvious candidates for a Spring makeover.

Ring a Ring O'Roses

Spring wreaths are another ideal way of creating those Spring vibes. They don't need to cost you a fortune, either, if you can harness your artistic talents and make them yourself. Think flowers, ribbons and faux butterflies and whatever else conjures up a spring ambience - imagination is key! What better way to give your guests a heads up that a Spring haven lies beyond than a beautiful Spring wreath on the front door?!

So with just a few subtle changes to your décor you can refresh and transform your home for the new season and fill it with the hope and promise of Spring.
